What impact has attending the NI Tourism Summit 2010 had on you and/or your business? 7 Replies

Because of my participation in the summit I have a much better understanding of tourism industry concepts. Being fairly new to tourism, Roger's no nonsense presentation at the summit has given me…Continue

Ron Garnder - My Idaho Trip, Day 4: Sandpoint, Idaho

That beautiful bridge is called the Long Bridge. If you approach

Sandpoint from the south, you'll find Long Bridge serves as sort of a

grand entryway to this little town that some travel writer once called

an "Ansel Adams meets Normal Rockwell kind of town." Lake Pend

Oreille's water level is really low at this time of year, but it is

still a view that makes you want to stop, get… Continue

Ron Gardner - My Idaho Trip, Day 4: Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort

Day 4 started with a freezing rain in Sandpoint and brisk winds. Wouldn't you know because I want to take some nice pictures at the ski resort, there would be a blizzard up there. Well, it wasn't as bad as I was afraid it might be.

Schweitzer offers 2900 skiable acres with 92 trails and open bowl skiing. The vertical drop is 2,400 feet and with a variety of high-speed quads, a six-person lift called Stella and other… Continue

Ron Gardner - My Idaho Trip, Day 3: Kootenai Wildlife Refuge

It's pronounced Koot'-nee. I thought I should clear that up right away so you don't read through this with some weird word bouncing around in your head distracting you from the fascinating content I'm about to provide. (insert laugh track here)

On this third day of the trip, I found myself with some free time after visiting tourism officials in Bonners Ferry so I decided to check out the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge. I'd driven through this area… Continue

Ron Gardner - My IdahoTrip, Day 2: Lewis & Clark Center at Hell's Gate State Park

Lewiston is the low point of Idaho. What? Oh yeah, it's the lowest place in the state at just 738 feet above sea level. But it's a high point for anyone looking for some history mixed with adventure. Whether you know a lot about the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery Expedition of the early 1800's or not, there is much to be learned here and there are reminders of the expedition's importance to our country's history everywhere you look. One of the many places to get a quick idea of what those… Continue

Social media in our region is pocketed a bit. There are some who can see the possibilities of engaging in a social media strategy, and those who don't - suppose that's common elsewhere. Our social media champion, Jamie Lynn Morgan, is…
